Polish Sabre

This addition to Cold Steel's range of high-performance swords was modelled on various Polish sabres of the early 17th century. These sabres, which were used on the battlefield both on foot and on horseback, had a fearsome reputation. This was due not only to the skill of the Polish nobles in handling their sabres, but also to the phenomenal cutting ability of these weapons.

Cold Steel's interpretation of this historically significant blade is a design by custom bladesmith Dave Baker. This sabre is made of expertly hardened carbon steel. Its fully sharpened, distally tapered and strongly curved blade gives it incredible cutting ability, but it is also rigid enough to carry out thrusting attacks effectively.

For optimal hand protection it is fitted with a knuckle guard and a crossguard with brass inlays. It also has a practical thumb ring to facilitate the so-called moulinet - a technique that allows the wielder to keep the blade in continuous motion, so as to parry, cut and change direction in a flash!

With its striking wire-wrapped handle of red leather, the matching leather sheath and the inlays left blank for personalised engravings, the look of this sword is every bit the equal of its functionality. The Polish sabre undoubtedly has what it takes to become the centrepiece of any HEMA martial artist's or blade enthusiast's collection.

1055 Carbon Steel
The carbon content and the relatively low proportions of other elements in this steel make it a very stable material that is free from the brittleness inherent in most steels with a higher carbon content. This steel is excellently suited to blades that need to offer high impact resistance and is therefore often used for large fixed blade knives, machetes and swords.
