Normannisches Schwert mit Scheide

Wie ihr berühmtes Schwert gehen die unbändige Kampfeslust der Normannen und ihre unersättliche Gier nach Land und Reichtümern zweifellos auf ihre Wikinger-Vorfahren zurück, die unter der Führung von Rollo im Jahre 911 A.D. ihre zukünftige Heimat im Nordwesten Frankreichs, die Normandie, aus den Händen von Karl dem Einfältigen rissen (Friedensvertrag von Saint-Clair-sur-Epte). Allerdings waren die Normannen mit ihrem Los nie zufrieden und so dauerte es nicht lange, bis sie erneut ihre breiten, doppelschneidigen Schwerter in die Hände nahmen und mit gesetzten Segeln den Ärmelkanal überquerten, um Britannien zu erobern; ein Kriegszug, der bekannterweise im Jahre 1066 A.D. in der Schlacht bei Hastings gipfelte.

Cold Steel® bietet nun eine kampftaugliche Version dieser berühmten Schwerter. Wie die gründlich untersuchten Originale verfügt dieses Schwert auch über eine lange, breite Klinge mit geschärften Schneiden. Um das Gewicht geringstmöglich zu halten und somit eine bequeme einhändige Führung sicherzustellen, hat Cold Steel® die Klingenmitte mit einer einzelnen breiten, gewichtsparenden Hohlkehle versehen, die außerdem für mehr Ausgewogenheit sorgt und der Klinge die nötige Festigkeit verleiht, um schweren Schlägen standzuhalten.

Mit der nach unten gebogenen Parierstange mit meißelförmigen Enden, dem lederbezogenen Holzgriff und dem Dreispitzknauf erinnert auch das Gefäß des Normannenschwertes von Cold Steel® an diverse erhaltene Originalstücke. Die Knaufform wurde bewusst ausgewählt: Dieser Knauf lässt mehr Platz für die Hand, bildet ein gutes Gegengewicht zur Klinge und kann schon an sich als Schlagwaffe dienen.

Eine lederbezogene Holzscheide mit Stahlbeschlägen ist im Lieferumfang enthalten.
